New Play Workshop - July 15-26

Our New Play Workshop will be working on Enter the Body, a new play based on the novel by New York Times Bestselling author, Joy McCullough.  We will be workshopping the play working directly with Joy on bringing this story to life. This will be the first performance of this script.
Throughout the rehearsal process, actors will learn how a script evolves from first draft to performance.

What if we could re-claim, re-cast, and re-tell our own stories? Juliet, Cordelia, Ophelia and Lavinia do just that. Filled with multiple characters from four of Shakespeare's most famous works, the four heroines rewrite their own stories. Witty, modern repartee paired with Shakespearean dialogue, swordplay and fast-paced scene work are the basis for this script. The cast is flexible for between 9 and 30 actors and has characters that are both female and male.

In the room beneath a stage's trapdoor, Shakespeare’s dead teenage girls compare their experiences and retell the stories of their lives, their loves, and their fates in their own words. Bestselling author Joy McCullough offers a brilliant testament to how young women can support each other and reclaim their stories in the aftermath of trauma.

Directed by Dorothy Rosenthal Pierce and Christopher Puckett. Fight choreography by Marina Pierce.

M-F 9am-1pm with an extended rehearsal on July 26th and an evening performance. This program is for students entering 7th grade through exiting 12th.
